DR. ELI KATZ

Eli Katz has provided both plaintiff and defence lawyers with over 3,500 reports on economic losses, housekeeping/home maintenance costs, costs of care, and dependency losses.

Eli has a Ph.D. in economics from London University.  He specializes in labour economics and finance and has taught these subjects as well as mathematics and statistics at the undergraduate and graduate level at Harvard University, London University, Bar Ilan University in Israel, and York University. He has published around 100 articles in peer-reviewed professional economics and finance journals. Eli was on the boards of editors of academic journals in economics and finance. In addition to working and consulting for the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, he has advised several private corporations.

Eli’s expertise in loss quantification has been recognized by the Canadian Bar Association (CBA): he was asked by the CBA to submit an opinion to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of British Columbia concerning the choice of appropriate discount rates for future income losses and costs of care. 

Eli’s expertise was recognized in August 2018 when he was asked by the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association to prepare a submission concerning the rates to be used in discounting future incomes and costs of care to the Rules Committee Regarding Discount Rates.

Also, in March 2019, Eli published an article in the Litigator surveying recent developments in women’s employment and participation in the Ontario / Canadian labour force.

Most recently, Eli has published an article in a professional refereed journal on a significant issue in the injury field: “Compensation in Personal Injury Cases: Mean or Median Income? Leif Danziger and Eliakim Katz, European Journal of Law and Economics, October 2019.

Rachel Wardinger

Partner

Rachel Wardinger completed a Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University in 2002 and went on to earn a Master of Economics from the University of Toronto in 2005. Subsequently, Rachel completed a Bachelor of Education from the University of Toronto in 2006 and began her career teaching mathematics and economics at the high school level. Rachel began working for JK Economics in 2012 and has worked on hundreds of economic loss reports, dependency loss reports and housekeeping/home maintenance losses. Rachel also worked for an international accounting firm, where she specialized in litigation support.

Tayla Ginzburg

Senior Analyst

Tayla Ginzburg graduated with a BA in Mathematics for Commerce: Actuarial Stream from York University in 2015. She has been working for JK Economics since 2016. She has drafted hundreds of reports including economic loss, cost of care quantification reports, and defence reports.   

Devora Paskowitz

Senior Analyst

Devora Paskowitz graduated with a BA from York University in 1999. She has been working for JK Economics since 2007. As a senior forensic economic analyst, Devora has collaborated on hundreds of reports on economic loss, costs of care, housekeeping/home maintenance losses, and dependency losses.

Sari Spiro

Senior Analyst

Sari Spiro earned a BSc in Mathematics from York University in 1996 and an MS in Statistics and Operations Research from NYU in 1997. She began working for JK Economics in 2006  and has been working with LexQuant since the beginning of 2020. She has collaborated on many reports on economic loss, costs of care, and housekeeping/home maintenance losses.  

Esther (Etty) Barak

Office Administrator

Etty has been the bookkeeper/manager of JK Economic Inc since 2012.
